Amos, prophet of the Creator
Greetings, friend!
Amos, son of Pethuel, a shepherd of Tekoa, was a prophet of the Creator during the reign of king Jerobeam.
He received several prophetic messages. (Remember prophetic messages are NOT necessary chronological, both in nature or recording.)
His messages summarized are:
1. Judgment on Israel's neighbors for their idolatry and other sins.
2. Judgment on Israel itself for their idolatry and other sins.
3. Call to repentance.
4. Woe to the complacent.
5. Prophecy against Israel's pride.
6. Three judgment's foretold - two will be averted by prayer, but the third is unavoidable.
7. Prophecy against Israel's sins.
8. Prophecy about the coming destruction and restoration of Israel.
These and more prophecies are recorded in the book of Amos in the Torah and the Bible.
