The sons and grandsons of Abraham

The sons and grandsons of Abraham

Greetings, friend!

Today, I am discussing Ishmael and Isaac. Half brothers of their father Abraham, but at loggerheads with each other.

We see in the Bible that apparently the promise to Abraham of many children is fulfilled thru Ishmael - he had twelve children and Isaac only had two (Jacob and Esau). But it started much earlier...

As all brothers they fight and play with each other, but Ishmael is the winner every time (well, he is the oldest)! This upset Sarah so much that she told Abraham to send her away! Abraham took them away to the valley of Makkah, a barren place in the middle of the desert as instructed by the Creator. And here the Creator continued to provide for Hagar and her son Ishmael.

Back at the old home things were quieter, but later there was more problems coming in the household of Isaac...

Jacob and Esau was twins, but not alike. Esau was just minutes older, but Jacob already was fighting for attention right from birth. Esau became Isaac's beloved and Jacob became Rebecca's favorite causing a lot of friction in the small family, especially after the death of Abraham. Jealousy between the two factions grew worse and became a handhold for theft (birthright and blessings). In the end Rebecca was sitting as a widow with two brothers that became enemies of each other, just because she helped Jacob to get the main blessing 'cos she thought it was the right thing to do!

Unfortunately this is not the right way of solving the problems. If you are in a situation where you are sitting between two factions, do NOT choose sides! The results could be devastating. The best is to withdraw from the situation and pray. God will solve it better than you can. Also, don't become an accessory to crime! Even if you did, remember their are an outcome...

TODAY'S QUESTION:
Are you stuck between two factions?

Forgiveness and a new life is waiting for you!

You would know what to do... GO AND DO IT NOW!
